The Challenger curriculum is aligned with national and state standards in science, math and reading. The pre-mission activities help students prepare for their mission as they help prepare for state testing.

"Preparing our students for the KS State Reading and Math assessments using the Challenger curriculum has proven beneficial as we teach what 'needs their attention' with curriculum that 'gets their attention!' Using information from a text to make inferences, draw conclusions understand causes/effects, problem/solutions and understanding the purpose of numerous and varied test features are monumental in obtaining high performance levels on the state Reading Assessment. Likewise, to achieve high performance levels on the state Math assessments, students must possess a variety of abilities and understandings that include an awareness of good 'number sense'. the ability to interpret and use numbers in real-world counting and measuring situations is vital. This 'friendliness with numbers' goes far beyond mere memorization of number facts; it implies an ability to use numbers flexibly and to choose the most appropriate representation of a number for a given circumstance. Challenger Mission Prep activities 'hit the target' for such assessment preparation."
