Here are some quotes from students after they experience a mission at the Challenger Learning Center of Kansas.

"My experience of going to Mars was way different than what I expected. I was really nervous because I didn't know what to expect. I thiought my job was going to be a lot harder and not as fun as it was. My job was to communicate with the other group. The messages were relayed through me and it was pretty nervewracking at the beginning, but as I got going it got easier... I was told to relay messages back and forth that I had no clue what they were talking about. I had to trust my team and the other communication officer to know what they were talking about. I also had to read and relay my messages so that it was easier for other people to recognize them. I had to have good listening skills and reading skills because sometimes I couldn't hear or read the messages.

While on this mission, I learned that communication is a very important trait that you need to succeed... I thought it was a really good way to learn about Mars and have the ability to work together as a team. Not everyone can come together and have a successful mission, but I think we accomplished so much more. We learned how to work as a team, but we also learned what it takes to be successful. to be successful, it takes communication, leadership and involvement and we had all these traits!" "Thank you for letting 5th grade come to the Challenger Center. I learned that going to Mars will take a lot of time and work. While I was in Mars Control I found that you couldn't give bad information or the Mars Transport Vehicle wouldn't lift off. When I was in MTV it was better than being in MC because we didn't get a 'red alert'. I am glad that you let the astronaut, Mr. Hieb, bisit with us because that honor comes to few people. Thank you for that fun trip to Mars. I hope I will get to do it again" A 5th grade student from Wellington
